Meditation is a powerful practice that allows you to slow down, get quiet, and focus on the mind. Over time, meditating helps you to find clarity and achieve a calm state of mind.
Meditation focuses on the breath. It’s not about shutting off your mind, but allowing thoughts to come and go without judgment. When the mind wanders, you can always return to your breath. This practice helps you to become more mindful. By focusing on and returning to the breath when the mind starts to wander, we can teach ourselves to remain in the present moment and ground ourselves.
Try to find a quiet space away from distractions and get comfortable. Try to sit cross-legged with a straight spine and your hands placed on your knees. If this isn’t comfortable for you, find a position that is comfortable that you will be able to sit in without moving.
If you are new to meditating, try just five minutes at first. As you get more comfortable with the practice you can increase the time for another five minutes and so on.
How does your body feel? What is going on in your mind? Take note of what’s going on in the present moment.
Focusing on the breath will help reduce the chatter in your mind. Let the thoughts flow without judgment but remember to let them go and always return to the breath.
Take a moment to thank yourself for carving out this time and be proud that you made it through! Some days will be easier than others but as long as you are showing up for yourself on a daily basis, you will reap the benefits of meditation.

You can choose how long you want to meditate for, pick out a soothing sound to meditate to, and when the time is up a peaceful gong or bell will go off to ease you out of your meditation. We prefer this over setting a timer on our phones for these reasons!
